XCUT
XCUT is an application for video logging with capability to access file while ingesting, both low resolution proxy and high quality. It can be integrated inside MAM, MediaXplorer, or be an external application.
The operator can define several marks (in & out) each one with own metadata set. At the end the operator can decide if to one clip, all clips or send the result to conforming server or to NLE.
XCUT can operate correctly if central storage (either SAN or NAS) has enough performance to support file access by both ingest server and XCUT clients. In the same time the ingesting file should be open and not locked; if locked there is no possibility to access it. Locking depends on ingestion server capability. In case bandwidth is not enough, it is possible to operate with proxy formats. Finally also file format can affect performance: I-Frame formats fit better for cut editing purposes.
P2-Xplorer, XDCAM-Xplorer, FILE-Xplorer
P2-Xplorer, XCDAM-Xplorer, FILE-Xplorer are specialized applications to access camera storage to download files to be uploaded to MAM.
FILE-Xplorer is generic file browser to access Hard Disk camera or even simple Memory Stick. It allows operator to input metadata so that asset is automatically loaded to MAM with full description.
